COMPUTATIONAL DESIGN AND ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING IN CLIMBING INDUSTRY.
We defined the project objectives, goals, methodology and defined an end to end Solution. Thanks to Computational Design we developed a Tool that is capable of generating unique climbing shoes for each customer.
Our Automated Design Tool takes into account individual measurements, preferences and requirements to generate designs that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also functionally superior. The result is a personalized product that enhances the overall experience of the climber.
The starting point is a 3D Scan of the customer’s foot. The outcome are the customer’s feet meshes and a csv report including several measurements and important information related to the foot topology.
STEP 1
Thanks to Computational Design we automatically import and process each customer’s feet information through an algorithm that creates a unique climbing last for each customer.
STEP 2
The algorithm continuously processes information, automatically generating the climbing shoe design based on each unique last. It ensures that each geometry fulfills a list of requirements and specifications, meeting the AM production standards.
STEP 3
Based on a database of different textures and customization options, the algorithm automatically reads and adds those customer preferences to each design.
STEP 4
Each pair of unique climbing shoes is then automatically serialized for traceability purposes and is saved as a single fixed, oriented and nested .3mf file by the algorithm.
STEP 5
Once a certain ammount of requests have been successfully processed, they’re also automatically nested in the Build Volume of a MJF printer.
A unique .3mf file is generated and processed for each job, making sure we have control over the end to end workflow.
STEP 6
Our Automated Design Tool is not just limited to the design process, but it also optimizes the production process, making it more efficient and streamlined. From managing orders and requests to automatically generating printing jobs, our tool covers all production needs.
